Martins added, “Relationships are hard and sometimes it just can’t be fixed anymore. I need this time to organize my thoughts, work on myself and care for my son after everything we have been through in the last year and half. Just to clarify, the [protective order] was me, I had help from a translator since I do not speak English. I also would like to state that I’m not missing. The police know where to find me if they need me. This is a legal matter not a ‘media matter.’ That being said it’s the first and last time I will speak about it. Thank you all again, Karine.”

90 Day Fiancé fans were worried for Karine Martin’s safety when she left, largely because it seemed as if Paul Staehle was trying to find her despite her police report.

At one point, a Redditor urged other fans not to let information about Martins slip. They wrote, “Idk about ya’ll but it seems to me, based on the limited information we have, that Karine is in the process of fleeing her abuser. … In any case, we know that the process of leaving an abuser is the most dangerous time for the victim/survivor. She may be hiding in shelter or hiding with friends and I think it’s important that we not aide him in his stalking attempts. It’s very clear that he’s trying to find where she is, which makes me very nervous for her.”

Another Redditor wrote of Martins’ Instagram post, “Wow [at] how she handled it on social media vs. Paul. I’m very proud of her & I wish her nothing but the best.”

“It sounds like she has access to translation and legal services, which is very good. I wish her the very best of luck,” added another user.
