Bristol Bears will be hoping to finish their season on a high when they take on Toulon in the European Rugby Challenge Cup final on Friday night.
Pat Lam’s men finished a creditable third in the Gallagher Premiership before a disappointing pasting at the hands of Wasps in the semi-final last Saturday.
Their French opponents, three times champions of Europe and four times champions of France, will be no pushovers, however, with international stars like Eben Etzebeth, Sergio Parisse and Charles Ollivon expected to start.
- Kick-off time: 8pm (BST)
- Venue: Stade Maurice David, Aix-en-Provence
- TV channel: BT Sport HD
- Live Stream: Watch in HD Strem
Friday’s Challenge Cup final between Bristol Bears and Toulon in France will have a limited crowd of 1,000 spectators, the European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) said on Monday after it received permission from local authorities.
Bears coach Lam has called on his team to channel their excitement of playing in a European final and ensure they “tick off a lot of boxes” when they face Toulon.
“In a final, when you play the game and that full-time whistle goes, there’s a real reward that you get handed over to you – it’s something that all rugby players, coaches and management look forward to, but there is enough of us who have experienced them to understand that there’s a lot of work that goes into it.
