New deal for Raul Jimenez, with Wolves hoping Adama Traore follows

Wolves are ready to open contract talks with Adama Traore after striker Raul Jimenez signed a new deal at Molineux. Nuno Espirito Santo is moving to keep the core of his Wolves squad together and Jimenez, the Mexico international, has signed a four-year extension. The £30 million signing from Benfica has been a revelation under Nuno since Wolves’s return to the Premier League, scoring 46 goals and emerging as one of the most highly-regarded centre forwards in Europe. Wolves will now start negotiations with winger Adama, with Nuno’s business in this transfer window due to be completed with the capture of young Angers defender Rayan Aït-Nouri. Adama has been another stand-out player for Wolves since his £18million move from Middlesbrough in August 2018. Nuno has transformed the 24-year-old into a potent force at Premier League level, and Wolves want him to follow Jimenez by committing his long-term future to the club. Aït-Nouri, 19, is flying into England on Saturday night to seal his loan move from Angers, the Ligue 1 club. Wolves have an option to sign him permanently for €20 million. A former France under-21 international, of Algerian descent, Aït-Nouri has established a fine reputation with Angers and can operate at left-back or wing-back. He will replace Ruben Vinagre, who is poised to join Olympiacos in a similar season-long loan deal. Wolves return to Premier League action on Sunday against Fulham, with Nuno demanding a reaction after last weekend’s 4-0 defeat at West Ham. He said: “Ups and downs happen, but it’s how fast you react from those which is important. That was the focus we had from this week – let’s bounce back from our previous game. “We have to play the game like we always do. It’s another game in front of us and a new challenge. We have to perform, play good, and the players must improve. “Honestly, it’s been different for everybody and it’ll require more work because we have less time. My job mainly this week is to improve the performance and level of players.”
